Interpretation of Probabilities

Escritoire/Reading/Interpretation_of_Probabilities

The effect of this control is to cause assigned and calculated probabilities to be shown as probability values ‘p’ (0 to 1 inclusive) rather than as interpretation text, as below:

  • p = 1 is ‘Absolutely true’;
  • 1 > p >= 0.85 is ‘Extremely likely’;
  • 0.85 > p >= 0.75 is ‘Very likely’;
  • 0.75 > p >= 0.65 is ‘Likely’;
  • 0.65 > p >= 0.55 is ‘Slightly likely’;
  • 0.55 > p >= 0.45 is ‘Undetermined’;
  • 0.45 > p >= 0.35 is ‘Slightly unlikely’;
  • 0.35 > p >= 0.25 is ‘Unlikely’;
  • 0.25 > p >= 0.15 is ‘Very unlikely’
  • 0.15 > p > 0 is ‘Extremely unlikely’;
  • p = 0 is ‘Absolutely false’;

The invalid ratings remain unchanged, i.e:

  • ‘Circular’
  • ‘Illogical’
  • ‘Incoherent’
  • ‘Irrelevant’
  • ‘Mendacious’
  • ‘Unrated’
