Finding that name was not straightforward.  For several years the gestating argumentation system that is the subject of this blog has gone under the name of ‘the Blaise project’, after Blaise Pascal, the French mathematician and philosopher who somewhere said (but I’m damned if I can find it), about the use of logic that “there would be no need for disagreement between philosophers as between accountants” (or something like that).  The domain name blaise.com was already taken, so the search was on.  I needed it to be relatively short, memorable, capable of being ‘verbed’ and – ideally – meaningful.  Perhaps unsurprisingly all of the English words associated with debate, argument and discussion that I and a thesaurus could come up with had been taken, mostly by domains squatters and the odd dodgy business.  OK, how about non-English variations?  Inspired by Plato’s quotation of  Sophocles, “we must go wherever the wind of the argument carries us.” I tried ‘wind’ in Greek – also taken, as were all the Greek variations on argument and debate.  OK, let’s try Latin (of which I have little; even less than Greek).  Once again the previous variations drew a blank, until Pacisco: to agree, negotiate, make a contract.  Perfect!  And, amazingly, available!
